Music software

Sound recording and editing software

Audacity - Free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. Record live audio. Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs. Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, and WAV sound files. Cut, copy, splice, and mix sounds together. Change the speed or pitch of a recording.
Available for Windows, Mac, Linux etc. I use Audacity for recording guitar, also for slowing down guitar music so I can work out how to play it. It can import and export MP3s. It is great.

Guitar tablature software

Power Tab Editor - Download "Power Tab Editor" (free) which will enable you to view and listen to PowerTab files, also you can use it to write your own tablature.

- Download "Guitar Pro". This high quality software costs 59euros (approx £40). You can try it free for 15 days..

TablEdit - Download "TefView" (free) or "TablEdit" (free demo). Either program will allow you to view and listen to TablEdit files.

MusEdit - Download "MusEdit Viewer" (free) or "MusEdit" (free demo). Either program will allow you to view and listen to MusEdit files.
